KEY TO SUCCESS

Our clients find the most success when they integrate their candidates into their team as they would their domestic employees who work remotely. Include them in your team meetings, on the website, and in Teams groups, and allow them to participate in the annual and quarterly meetings. Some of our clients have brought their team members to the US to work with them directly for a week and some have come out to the Philippines for a week to perform training. These are keys to building a strong team and ensuring that your Unity staff will be a powerful part of your company’s success for many years to come.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Here is some information about our process that answers our most frequently asked questions:
Recruiting

We will take the information you have provided and begin the recruiting process which could take up to three weeks. During this time, we will start by reviewing if we have any existing candidates that will fit your needs. Meanwhile, we will place a job listing from which we can receive hundreds of applicants. We will review those applicants and start the qualification process with a dozen or so of the top candidates.

While we are working on finding great candidates for your position, we will send you our Agreement to review and if you have any questions, we can set up a time to discuss or you can send them via email. Once you have signed the Agreement, we will be ready to present you with Candidates.

Our screening process involves several steps to ensure that the future employee we present to you is going to have the best chance of integrating with your team. We will test them on their written English, ensure they have excellent conversational English, confirm the hours and days they are available to work to align with your business hours and needs, and so forth. We will conduct a preliminary interview with them via Zoom and record this interview.

Once we have received your signed Agreement, we can start sending you a Candidate Review Package that will include their resume, a picture of their workspace, answers to a questionnaire we received from them during our screening process along with our recorded discussion with them. We will send them as they are available and will continue recruiting for you until you have found one or more you would like to interview.

For remote employees working with U.S.-based clients, their time zone and working hours can vary depending on the nature of the job, company policies, and the client’s preferences. However, there are some common trends:

  1. Time Zone Considerations:
  • Eastern Standard Time (EST): This is the most common time zone for U.S.-based clients, especially for those located in cities like New York, Washington D.C., and Atlanta.
  • Central Standard Time (CST): Many U.S. clients in the Central Time Zone (e.g., Chicago, Dallas, Houston) expect work in CST.
  • Pacific Standard Time (PST): If the client is based on the West Coast (e.g., Los Angeles, San Francisco), remote employees might work in PST.
  1. Remote Employee Hours:
  • Overlap Hours: Remote employees often need to overlap working hours with their U.S.-based clients to ensure communication and collaboration. For example:
    • If the client is in EST, remote employees might start their day late afternoon or evening to align with U.S. business hours.
  • Typical Work Hours: U.S.-based clients generally expect a standard 40-hour work week (Monday to Friday), with core working hours falling between:
    • 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM EST (or local equivalent) Remote employees may work these hours or have some flexibility depending on the arrangement.
  • Flexible Hours: Some companies offer more flexibility, allowing employees to work based on their time zone but still requiring overlap during certain hours (e.g., 3-4 hours overlap with the client’s U.S. workday).
  1. Job Types and Schedules:
  • Client-Facing Roles (e.g., sales, customer support): Employees might need to adjust their hours to match the client’s time zone and be available during business hours.
  • Backend Roles (e.g., development, content creation): These roles may offer more flexibility as long as deadlines are met and communication with the client is maintained.

According to Virtual Assistant statistics, one out of eight million virtual assistants on Upwork are from the Philippines. Companies from other countries find it easy to work with Filipino virtual assistants. They also have the highest literacy rate — 96.2%, and they’re the most affordable VAs in the world.

Essential Virtual Assistant Statistics

There are either 25,000—or 30+ million virtual assistants in the world.

It depends on how you count. If you consider any remote freelancer as a virtual assistant, there are 10s of millions. There are 12 million freelancers on Upwork, 20 million on Freelancer, and 3 million on Fiverr. Wikipedia says the number of people with the title “Virtual Assistant” is closer to 25,000.

There are more than 150,000 virtual assistant jobs posted on Ziprecruiter.com in the United States alone.

The average age of a virtual assistant in the U.S. is 40.

Another shocker, right? Virtual assistants access vital business information and responsibilities. Executives are looking for seasoned people they can trust.

Virtual Assistant Industry Statistics Suggest the Market is Changing

The virtual assistant is an emerging profession, as shown by the fact that most VAs are married, have college degrees, are older, and work full-time. Market analysts measure the virtual assistant industry, and trade associations are forming.

recent Staffing Industry Analysts report (SIA) identified the virtual assistant landscape as a growing sector in the broader Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry.

SIA also found that virtual assistant businesses grew during the pandemic and are increasingly used by enterprises to improve executive productivity.

The economy and workplace norms are changing fast, and we expect to see the impact continue in the virtual assistant industry over the next couple of years.

It is a well-known fact that Philippine business process outsourcing (BPO) companies have been catering to US firms of different sizes and industries for over 40 years.

A significant number of top US companies outsource their operations to the Philippines.

Due to the outsourcing sector’s various advantages and counter-cyclical nature, businesses are now looking into offshore staffing as a saving grace.

Now more than ever, companies realize the benefits of delegating parts of their business to a competent and dedicated offshore team.

Businesses usually consider outsourcing to save on costs. However, US companies should know that it’s not the only good reason why this is considered an outstanding business strategy.
